CNA Florence Art-Test Partnership: Enhancing Restoration Projects with Scientific Analysis

Feb 18, 2024 | Art-Test News, Restoration

Art-Test has joined CNA Florence, an association representing artisans and their small to medium-sized enterprises in the province of Florence. The fFlorentine seat of the association specifically dedicates a section to restoration and the promotion of this profession.

Diagnostic investigations are considered an optional and non-protocol item in the creation of a restoration project. However, we are well aware that restorers often do not include them because they are compelled to contain costs severely due to the mode of work allocation, which often relies on “lowest bid” practices.

While, even with a minimal set of analyses, the project would be enriched with scientific data useful for restoration and future conservation. This also applies to planned maintenance, which should be accompanied by investigations carried out with protocols shared and repeatable over time for methodology and instrumentation. Aware of this situation, Art-Test will propose a convention in the coming weeks for all CNA members, with special discounts tailored to them.
