A landmark exhibition celebrates Fra Angelico with a complimentary rich programme of events
Florence is currently paying tribute to Fra Angelico with an extraordinary exhibition, widely regarded as a milestone for its scope and scholarly importance. Alongside the show, the Fondazione Palazzo Strozzi is offering a vibrant series of talks and encounters under the title “Angelico through Time.”
The programme explores diverse perspectives — from art history and restoration to theological reflection and contemporary interpretation — creating an engaging dialogue across disciplines.
The first event will take place on 30 October and will be dedicated to “Restoration, Context and History of Pesellino’s Shaped Crucifixion”, a work recently restored thanks to the generous support of Marchesi Antinori for the occasion of the exhibition. The talk will be held, exceptionally, at Palazzo Antinori at 6:00 p.m.

The restoration, conducted under the direction of the Soprintendenza of Florence and supervised by Elena Alfani and Daniela Parenti, was carried out by the restoration laboratory l’Atelier, which entrusted Art-Test Firenze with the diagnostic analysis.
Speakers will include Carl Brandon Strehlke, Ludovica Sebregondi — author of a catalogue essay dedicated to this type of work — and Andrea Staderini, a leading expert on Pesellino and author of the catalogue entry on the Crucifixion. Alessia Antinori will also contribute with a presentation entitled “Traces of Family History: Between Patronage and a Passion for Wine.”
Admission is free, subject to availability. Further details and links to the event and the complete programme are available online.
Please note: If you haven’t yet had the chance to visit the exhibition — and wish to treat yourself to an “angelic” evening — the galleries will remain open until 11:00 p.m. on Thursday.
